Mystic, CT

Mystic is a village and census-designated place (CDP) in New London County, Connecticut, in the United States. The population was 4,001 at the 2000 census. A historic locality, Mystic has no independent government because it is not a legally recognized municipality in the state of Connecticut. Rather, Mystic is located within the towns of Groton (west of the Mystic River, and also known as West Mystic) and Stonington (east of the Mystic River).

More . . .

Our first road trip took us on an adventure to Mystic, CT, a very quaint town, offering shipbuilding, sailing at Mystic Seaport and two nearby casinos: Foxwoods Resort & Casino at Mashantucket and the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, both are only 20–30 minutes away. We had the opportunity to visit both and my favorite was Foxwoods - win! win! win! you can actually shop at CVS, stop at the local consignment shop, go to Mohegan Sun, grab some take out from a local pub and make it back to the hotel room before the kick–off of the first football game. You can do all this in the rain in a little under 3 hours.

There is a section in Mystic designed as an old village on the edge of town known as the Olde Mistick Village, a collection of small shops with unusual and unique merchandise. Also nearby is the Mystic Aquarium &, great dining and the movie theater. Boating enthusiasts can step into the 20th century with a tour of the USS Nautilus & Submarine Force Museum located in nearby Groton.
